The Best Way To Buy Luxury Holidays

When choosing your luxury holidays who will offer you the best deals?

The critics of the travel agent often say packaging your own holiday saves you money and this is what you should do but in today's volatile world is your money safe? Should you pay more to an agent for peace of mind? Should you book your luxury holidays directly with an independent operator and cut out the middle man? There are so many options to consider, so what do you do?

As with most things in life there are advocates with a strong argument in favor of all the options, so who should you listen to?

I guess the conclusion will be different depending on your perspective, how much money is too much to risk? Typical luxury holidays will cost between £2k and £20k and that is the cost of a good second hand car, the deposit on a house for your son or daughter or that new luxury kitchen or bathroom you have always wanted. Would you buy a car from a man you had never met, based in a country where you couldn't speak the language, pay the man the money three months in advance of seeing the vehicle without any guarantee of financial protection? Probably not!

On the other hand you may be tempted if that man was offering the same car as your dealer down the road at a much lower price.
Surely the answer lies somewhere between the potential savings, potential risks and the amount you intend to spend but do you really know what the potential risks are or how much you have really saved.

Every high street in the UK typically has one or more of the multiple chains of travel agents and usually a local independent agent both of which seem to be closing down at a rate of knots. The problem with both these options are fairly straight forward; if you book your luxury holidays with the multiple that is in turn owned by the tour operator, then surely recommendations will be biased to their employers products and not necessarily finding you the consumer the best deal. The second option being the independent travel agent but being based in the high street and encumbered by the cost of expensive shop rents and ridiculous business rates, are they really in the best position to offer you the biggest discounts on your luxury holidays? Again the answer has to be probably not.

Booking your luxury holidays online seems to be the way the trend is going, so how do you know that you are getting the best deal? Many suggest you should book with the tour operator direct as this will cut out the need for the operator to pay an agent commission and in turn deliver you better value for money. The question is without trawling through all the hundreds of tour operators how do you know you are dealing with the one that has the best luxury holiday offers. You Don't.

You can of course book your luxury holidays independently as suggested before. So you go ahead and start hunting for the different elements of your holidays on-line and inevitably find that packaging them together saves you a little money but at the cost of financial protection.

The next option is using a member of one of the new travel agents consortium in the UK. One of the most successful and fastest growing is the Freedom Travel Agents consortium which is part of the Co-operative Group. These consortium have created a new breed of travel companies that have access to both an ABTA and ATOL licence allowing them to retail other tour operators luxury holidays as well as act as the principle tour operator and dynamic package your luxury holidays for you, much in the same way as you would on-line but providing you and your family with the financial protection you need.

Having access to all the tour operators products at the touch of a button and having specialist knowledge of each operator and their strengths and weaknesses mean that often these agents will be able to find the bargain you may have otherwise missed.

As a consortium there are considerable savings to be had by its members and often much better commercial deals with the tour operators allowing more freedom to discount. The leaner and more efficient a business can be the greater the saving for you the consumer. The best of these agents can be found on the web and so unencumbered by those high street costs and in turn able to offer you the consumer the greatest savings on your luxury holidays.

Mozambique Holidays On The Island Of Benguerra At A Beach Front Luxury Lodge

Mozambique holidays at Azura on Benguerra Island will shortly become a well known destination and Hotel, although Azura is really more a luxury eco boutique lodge than an hotel. It opened its doors in the latter part of 2007, and to some extent it is still work in progress, but it has immediately caught the attention of people looking for a romantic beach getaway or a beach front vacation on a Mozambique Island in the Indian Ocean.

Azura is a brand new addition to what are an increasing number of lodges and hotels in the fantastically beautiful Bazaruto Archipelago in Southern Mozambique.

It consists of 3 luxury Villas, 11 infinity villas and a Presidential Villa with private plunge or infinity pool. They are extremely spacious and designed with a combination of traditional Mozambique furniture and ultra modern chic, and the effect is spectacular. Speechless is one word already used to describe the accommodation, each with its own butler who is there purely to pander to your every whim.

Each villa has a beach front cabana style roundel to shelter from the heat of the sun, and is well supplied with comfy plump cushions. The huge beds are very comfortable and the outside showers a great reminder of how great life in the tropics can be, particularly when friends at home in Europe are either soaked and cold or under several meters of snow whilst you are standing under the stars in the open air enjoying a shower.

Azura luxury lodge is a real beachfront location, and the views of the Indian Ocean from the public areas of the Lodge will take your breath away, with the searing blue of the Indian Ocean contrasting with the lovely beach.

What this is saying in effect is that there are just totally idyllic absolutely uninterrupted views everywhere you look of white sand beach which just seems to stretch for miles in both directions, and is invariably empty. The water is warm and totally clear, but when the tide goes out, you have to go a very long way if you want to swim but it makes for great exploring.

As you would expect in a far off isolated spot like Benguerra much of the hotel is open to the cooling breezes, and this kind of design with the cool contemporary cottons used in the furnishings oozes quality allied to relaxation.

The food at Azura is also of very high quality, especially when you remember it all has to be brought from the mainland, although of course the superb fish came from the nearby ocean. There is a lot of fish on the menu, and you will be able to eat on the beach, and don’t miss the seafood buffet cooked over an open fire. There is a meat option, and in fact you will get pretty well what you fancy with a good wine list as well.

The Azura is heavily involved in an upliftment programme, where they have to help to improve the lives of the local people. They are training locals in a variety of ways, and this principle of helping the local community, even as a guest because you are giving people the opportunity to take part in the programme makes it all see so much more worthwhile.

You can access Benguerra Island via the international airport at Vilanculos and it is then ten minutes by plane and 30 minutes by boat.

The normal activities that you would expect are available, and as you can imagine snorkeling, scuba diving and fishing are popular favorites, but many guests are content to sit, read, walk on the deserted white sand beach, and perhaps swim with dolphins who visit on occasions.

You might just prefer to lie around on your deck, have your butler serve tea, or cool off in your own plunge pool. Just enjoy the peace and total relaxation that make Mozambique holidays on Benguarra Island at Azura unique.

Mauritius Luxury Holidays At Dinarobin Golf And Spa Hotel

Mauritius 5 star Luxury Holidays are the choice of tens of thousands of holidaymakers every year, and this number is rising rapidly. It is about an eleven hour flight from most European departure cities to this Indian Ocean Hideaway.

Some people choose the Dinarobin Golf and Spa Hotel, and there must be some good reasons that make them choose this hotel for their package holiday in Mauritius. Indeed Dinarobin has become a popular destination for a Mauritius honeymoon as well as a Mauritius package holiday.

Perhaps it is the scenery, because the exclusive resort of Dinarobin, which has excellent facilities, is surrounded by dramatic scenery and sits adjacent to over four miles of immaculate white sand beach. There is excellent diving here, and the resort of Dinarobin is a great place for couples so well suited if you are planning a honeymoon in Mauritius.

You will find the Dinarobin Golf and Spa Hotel on the very attractive south west corner of Mauritius, with Le Morne mountain making a great backdrop, and it is about a one hour drive from the airport.

The hotel consists of a series of thatched villas in tropical gardens facing the beautiful beach. Each villa has between two and six suites.

Each suite at Dinarobin has a large and private verandah, and is furnished with natural wood and bamboo.

When it comes to recreation, there are a huge number of things to do on land and water. These include the following free activities: Water skiing, windsurfing, use of kayaks, pedal boats, glass bottom boat trips, snorkelling, on and under the water.

There are also three tennis courts, a fitness centre, sauna and steam, again all complimentary.

Also available, although you do have to pay are scuba diving, deep sea fishing, golf on an eighteen hole international standard course at the sister hotel the Paradis which is next door, and there is a 24 hour shuttle service between the two hotels. The golf course whilst not demanding for the expert, is nevertheless well kept, and very attractive, plus the fact it isn’t that expensive!!

Dinarobin also has Mountain biking as a paid extra for those who insist upon exercise on their honeymoon or luxury 5 star vacation in Mauritius.

The Dinarobin is a hotel that positively welcomes children, and there is a mini club for the 3-12 year olds and tennis, water sports, and golf coaching for the teenagers as well as a games room. For those people with small children there is also a paid baby sitting service so you can enjoy the three restaurants with this reassurance.

The children’s club is very well staffed, well structured, and plenty to keep the children amused. They can eat lunch there with the staff, and this costs about £10, then dinner is free, with good menu choices. It stays open until 11pm.

This leaves parents free to eat alone, and the buffer restaurant is popular with a different theme every night of the week. Excellent dining should be a feature of any Luxury Holiday and Dinarobin in Mauritius makes it a feature.

L’Harmonie is open for all meals and has themed evenings. Saveurs des Iles is a fusion of French & Mauritian and is open six nights a week, and Le Morne Plage on the beach opens for lunch and a few ‘Lobster Evenings’. Guests can also eat at the sister hotel Le Paradis

One of the outstanding features of your holiday in Mauritius at the Dinarobin, especially for the bone idle who like to relax is the top class Clarins Spa, and that is not to forget the beauty salon for the ladies.

The senior suites are especially worthwhile at the Dinarobin, and they have the added touches which can make or break a luxury holiday in Mauritius, and it is worth exploring all the options with your travel agent to get the best possible price for your package holiday. There are enormous price variations, and with some online research as well you’ll be surprised at the deals that are possible to bring a senior suite within your reach, especially if you are choosing Mauritius and the Dinarobin for your honeymoon vacation.

The Senior Suites are lovely, large, plenty of space, with a walk in shower in the bathroom, and right next to the beach, so if you are on the ground floor you can walk straight out onto the beach.

There is a separate club for those guests in a senior suite, and you can choose to take breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and then drinks before dinner which are free, including champagne, and canapés. The free drinks helps you make quite a saving compared to buying drinks in the hotel itself.

The Dinarobin is a year round destination although tropical storms can occur between November and April, and there will be cool winds from June to September. You can have a very worthwhile Mauritius Luxury Holiday here.

Luxury Holidays In Andorra

If you want to take a holiday some place new and different perhaps somewhere that none of your friends or family has ever visited you may want to try Andorra.  Andorra is a very small country, located between France and Spain in a valley on the Southern side of the Pyrenees mountains.  And, luxury holidays in Andorra can be quite a lot of fun.

One of the many draws of Andorra is the shopping.  It is nearly a tax free country, and it is duty free as well, so many travelers enjoy heading to the stores.  But, there is also quite a lot of enjoyable activities to do.

Skiing is of course, also a major attraction for Andorra since it is located right at the base of the Pyrenees mountains.  But holiday makers can also choose to hike or climb in the mountains.  And the scenery throughout Andorra including the mountain area, but also the rest of the entire country is just magnificent.  In addition, the architecture of the buildings is quite striking, as well.

There is also a Caldea thermal spa in which travelers can relax.  This is highly recommended by anyone who has been to Andorra.  Luxury holidays in Andorra will certainly be experiences a person will not soon forget.

Luxury Egypt Holidays At The Adrere Amellal Oasis Eco Hotel At Siwa

When considering luxury Egypt holidays, or any Egyptian vacation for that matter, the Siwa oasis, and the Adrere Amellal oasis wouldn’t be a place that came immediately to mind. In fact you’ve probably never heard of either.

The Siwa Oasis is where one of the top eco-hotels in Egypt is situated, and the Adrere Amellal is probably one of the finest and most luxurious eco hotels in the world, and as such probably doesn’t feature on a list of package holidays to Egypt at your local travel agent!!

So where is Siwa, and where is the Adrère Amellal Oasis?

Why is the Adrere Amellal considered an essential part of a few knowledgeable peoples Luxury Egypt Holidays?

Siwa Oasis is a large famous Sahara oasis in the north west corner of Egypt, and it will take you eight hours to drive from Cairo. It has a unique culture and history, not to be missed. It’s sensible to overnight in Cairo after your flight in before setting out.

The Adrere Amellal is about 16 kms from the centre of Siwa, and is situated at the base of a majestic white mountain. It consists of a series of traditional houses that have been restored into 10 suites and 27 Casbah style rooms, all offering genuine comfort, and they are all built using local traditional methods. The walls are made of sun dried salt rock mixed with straw, and palm is used for the stylish roof. The furniture and fittings are mostly made of palm trunks, and the region’s handicraft, which is both colourful and very comfortable.

Every single room has a view of Siwa Lake and the Great Sand Sea with oil lamps and candles for lighting.

In the winter coal braziers supply the heat as the nighttimes can be very cold in the desert.

The pool is supplied by an ancient Roman spring, and the Adrere Amellal is totally electricity free, so not only is nightime very romantic with hundreds of candles against a backdrop of the incredible desert sky, but there are no mobile phones, television or trappings of the 21st Century. This alone makes for a luxury Egyptian Holiday never mind the sheer style of the hotel!!

Adrere Amellal is situated beside ancient olive and palm groves, and the food is simply stunning, and organic dining is quite a different experience. You will try fresh yoghurt, thick date syrup, eggs, local fruit, bread, and very rich coffee at breakfast time, and you will eat in one of the natural rocky grottos at the base of the mountain.

Lunch and Dinner are cooked in clay pots, using herbs and vegetables picked from their organic garden. Lunch is vegetarian, served by the pool and the evening meal has a meat base, and is served in a veritable maze of rooms, eaten by candlelight..

Adrere Amellal is totally all inclusive, it doesn’t even have a reception, nor room keys!!

It is truly an amazing place, close to many sights of Siwa, such as Cleopatra’s bath, the Temple of the Oracle Ammun, take 4x4 drives into the Great Sand Sea. All these activities and more are included in the all in price.

Siwa and the Adrere Amellal are unique, and very quickly you will lose stress, slow down to a pace of life where time is measured in fifteen minute chunks, and not seconds. Where you will accept that sand just gets into everything, but you can view an almost forgotten world, and yet return to the civilised superbly well staffed hotel, and sip a cool drink on your verandah, before the stars come up and the candles are lit.

All Inclusive Holidays To Cuba At The Luxury Hotel Paradisus

The All Inclusive Luxury Hotel Paradisus in Varadero Cuba is a great place for a Cuba Family Holiday.

With 421 air-conditioned guest roomsof which 408 are Junior Suites, 12 suites and 1 Garden Villa, all with a private balcony or terrace, the all inclusive Paradisus Cuba, located on the beautiful Rincon Frances Beach Varadero is ideally positioned for a Cuba family holiday.

This huge luxury hotel does of course contain most of the facilities you would expect for the perfect Cuba family holiday. You will find several restaurants and bars, a beauty salon, and shops. The Leisure facilities include swimming pools, children’s pool, fitness centre with gym and sauna and facilities for horse riding, cycling, tennis, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, diving and snorkelling.

The transfers to Varadero and the hotel takes about thirty minutes, and you will find as you arrive the bell boys are extremely quick and efficient with your suitcases. Whilst this is exactly what you would expect from any luxury hotel, somehow they make it seem more special, perhaps that is just Cuba!!

You’ll be offered a glass of champagne and told all about the resort, then whisked to your room in a golf cart along with your luggage

One piece of advice before you ever arrive at the Paradisus is to phone and ask for a second floor suite overlooking the beautiful beach. The rooms are a little old fashioned but you’ll find a large balcony a decent bathroom, a TV, and a well stocked drinks fridge.

Another tip is to make your restaurant bookings before you arrive. There are four restaurants at the Paradisus that you need bookings for, so get in early!! You can’t arrive for dinner in these restaurants and get a table without a reservation. The hotel only seems to employ enough catering staff to cover bookings.

The general buffet restaurant that you don’t need a reservation for serves breakfast and lunch as well as dinner.

Overall the standard of the food is good, indeed in many cases better than good, but no more than you should expect in a luxury hotel whether or not it is in Cuba. The way you are looked after by the staff it top class.

It is a good idea to bring little gifts for the room maids, they seem to appreciate this as much as any money.

The Rincon Frances Beach outside the Paradisus Hotel is beautiful, definitely the nices t in the Varadero area, and the beauty of an all inclusive holiday is that watersports are free, and as befits a luxury hotel, there were plenty of sunbeds.

If swimming off the beach isn’t for you, then you’ll just love the huge pool, which has a shallow end that is great for the children. No shortage of sunbeds, or shady spots and a really nice swim up bar.

Pool is very big and has a decent shallow end for kids which was good for us. Again, tons of sunbeds all around the pool and plenty of shaded areas if you want it. Swim up bar is a must and we met lots of folks there.

The Paradisus has really nice well maintained grounds to walk around in, but one thing to be wary of especially in the evenings is the mosquitos. They are nasty and despite sprays being placed on tables they can force you inside to eat.

Even the plentiful and free good quality alcohol including huge amounts of champagne doesn’t seem to deter them!!

You could brush your teeth in champagne , but most guests will use bottled water, although the ice in drinks appears perfectly safe.

If you have children then there is a kids club and a baby crèche type club which is airconditioned and indoors.

For kids, there is a kids club and a babies club. We used the babies club and it was indoor and air conditioned which was good.

Alcohol is free and plentiful. There are bottles of champagne everywhere. There are bottles outside all of the restaurants when you are going for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The waitresses will just keep topping you up! Its wonderful.

The Luxury Hotel Paradisus Cuba is rated 5 star but this is by Cuban standards. You will have a great time here, but if you are used to European standards, then it wouldn’t rate five stars, but for all that it is certainly one of the best hotels in the Caribbean.

When you add to this four tennis courts, a PADI dive centre, a fitness centre, the Little Turtles Kids Club based at Al Waha, which is one of the main reasons this This Shangri-La Hotel and Resort is the ideal family vacation package, you can begin to realize what is on offer.

Any good family vacation package to a luxury hotel should have restaurants that all the family can enjoy.

The Samba is outstanding in this regard because there is a chocolate fountain for the kids and unlimited oysters and mussels on ice for starters. Apart from this there is a huge selection of dishes, and this restaurant is the ideal spot for huge and varied breakfasts.

The surf bar and pool bar are good for burgers and salads, and the fish restaurant between Al Waha and Al Bandar has top class fish at decent prices.

This is a good all year round destination, but the temperature in July and August is pretty fierce, but then some like it hot, the expect extreme temperatures in Jul and Aug but prices will be lower then and the Al Jissah Resort & Spa less busy.

A final note about this top of the range luxury Oman hotel is the staff, who are very good indeed, being helpful courteous, friendly, and have very good language skills.

Go to Oman and stay at the Al Jissah Resort & Spa.
